Paula Fasken Impressionistic Landscapes

About the Artist:

The landscape is the inspiration for the impressionist paintings of Paula Fasken. Nature walks in the mountains provide unlimited possibilities for compositions and a balance of intuitive as well as classical interpretation is strived for in each study.

"My primary focus is the relationship of sunlight to the brilliant and diverse colors of the land. Although I try to place emphasis on the underlying abstract design, my ultimate challenge is to express the essence of the subject and share this reaction with the viewer."

Academic study at the University of Kentucky began with a pursuit of a career in Art History and Design, however, seminars and travels abroad have also added to her love and knowledge of art and continue to be the preferred avenues of learning.

A professional artist since 1975, Paula Fasken has made her permanent home in New Mexico, where she maintains her studio. Known for watercolor and oil paintings of Southwest and European imagery, the artist has exhibited regionally, nationally and in selected invitational shows. Paintings by Paula Fasken are represented in public and private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
